KDA designed the landscape within the building and its surrounding open space as part of the transformation of The Old Vinyl Factory at Hayes, Middlesex – homes, workshops, a cafe and community space.
Raised planters filled with grasses help create thresholds between private and public areas facing the podium landscapes.
Ground floor play area and garden within the open atrium, visible from all 5 floors within the central courtyard of the building. On the first floor there are raised beds, containers and a communal open space with raised rear gardens for each of the privately-rented apartments.
The pedestal-laid podium landscapes feature a contemporary blend of hard and soft landscaping in a residential and commercial environment.
The fifth floor enjoys planted containers, seating and attractive paved areas combined with a synthetic lawn, pods and a relaxation zone, accessible to all.
Raised beds and wooden planters help screen individual apartments and create a modern architectural aspect from outward and inward-facing aspects.
